Airboat Adventure

Live everyday as if it’s a new adventure, and being a native Floridian, I can honestly say I’ve never been on an airboat before…until now. Fathers Day was coming up and I knew that would make a great gift for my pops. So bought tickets at a place called Black Hammock in Oviedo for the family to enjoy a day on an airboat adventure out on Lake Jesup, one of Florida’s most gator filled lakes!

With the wind in our face just skimming over the water, we were having a blast, and in hopes of seeing some wild life. Well, we got just that, for that’s when we saw a huge alligators nest! So as we pulled up to get a better look, the mama gator popped her head up and started hissing, and as we started to leave, she attacked the boat! Definitely freaked out some in the group that’s not used to that Florida gator life.

Didn’t get to see much more wildlife as it was at the hottest part of the day and they were probably all resting. So we rode around for a little longer, and then came back in as our stomachs started growling. And the great thing about Black Hammock, is they have a bar and restaurant too! So we went in and of course I had to order some Gator bites and frog legs, which happened to have been some of the best I’ve had! All in all, it was a great time spent with my family for Fathers Day, and well worth a visit if you’re ever in Oviedo Florida, just don’t get too close to them gators!
